Class Rules
In my classroom, I have one general rule--"Do the right thing." I believe this rule is relevant for behavior in all areas of life. My students are the "big ones on campus," (so to speak), and I am going to treat them like young adults until they give me a reason not to.
I believe learning in a combined effort in which the students will have an active role. Therefore, I will run my classroom in this manner as well. I want the students to take a sense of ownership in their learning and behavior. Within the first few days of school, the students and I will collectively set more concrete class rules to ensure effective and efficient learning for all students. This will create the learner-centered structure in my classroom that I desire.
I will post the updated class rules within the first few days of class. Each student will be required to sign a Class Essential Agreement, ensuring they agree to abide by and follow the rules they have set.
