The Early Republic Web-quest
The early republic?! Who?! What?! Huh??
Remember, a republic is a government in which citizens rule through elected representatives. There is participation by the members--they are not ruled by a monarch.
Now, why must we learn about this early republic?! Well, when our nation was just beginning (the war was won, the Constitution was written), now what were we to do? George Washington was our first President and what was our nation to do now? Well, we had to start from the ground up--building our government. This job fell to the leaders of our country--George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, and James Monroe.
Who were these individuals? What impact did they have on our government. Well, that is what we are going to find out!
For each individual, you need to find out the impact they had on these specific areas concerning the President's domestic policies:
Domestic Policy?! That is simply the laws, government programs, and administrative decisions which are directly related to all issues and activity within a nation's borders.
